AIDS FOUNDATION HOUSTON presents

Walk to End HIV

For 32 years, AIDS Foundation Houston has brought together tens of thousands of Houstonians in the city's single greatest response to the fight to end HIV in our community. The Walk to End HIV raises funds for both AIDS Foundation Houston's continuing programs as well as our benefiting agencies that provide education, pediatric programs, housing, foods, medical care, counseling and job training to the almost 30,000 Houstonians currently living with HIV/AIDS.

Join us this year for a virtual walk & virtual experience!

April 9, 2021 - Virtual Celebration

Walk with us.

or ________

walkgif.gif

This year, we are taking things virtual, and you can be a part of every moment! Throughout the month of March, we want you to get active, documenting your goals and sharing them with the world, while helping to raise money to end the HIV epidemic in Houston.

Participating in Walk '21 is simple

1. Start your own fundraising page, start your own team, join a team, or fundraise for an individual or team!

2. Set your goal and send your fundraising page to everyone you know, encouraging them to make a donation in support of AIDS Foundation Houston.

Your goal can be anything you'd like it to be! Maybe you want to walk a mile each day for 30 days. Or maybe you want to swim 1000 laps in three weeks. You could even decide you want to dance to 100 hours of music (that's just 3 hours a day for 30 days!). The choice is up to you - be creative!

Individuals will receive swag when you start raising money!

Walk '21 Silicon Bracelet (with $50 raised)

Walk '21 T-Shirt (with $125 raised)

Walk '21 Hat (with $500 raised)

Walk '21 Water Bottle (with $1,000 raised)

3. Track your progress during the month of March and make updates on your fundraising page!

If you do decide to walk or run, download your favorite exercise tracking app, such as the free to use MapMyWalk

Tracking apps can be used either on your phone or connected through your favorite device such as an Apple Watch or Garmin.

You can even get motivational support from friends by connecting with them through social media integrations.

Make sure to update your progress on your fundraising page as you move closer towards your goal!

Let the whole world know that you support AIDS Foundation Houston and the fight to end HIV by posting about and sharing your personal or team fundraising page on social media! Make sure to tag AIDS Foundation Houston (@afhoustontx) and use the hashtag #endhivhtx

We've also created a few fun "profile frames" to Facebook that are easy to access:

  • Click on your profile photo from your Facebook page and select "Update Profile Picture" then "Add Frame" (on desktop) or just "Add Frame" (on mobile)

  • In the Search Frames field, type in "AIDS Walk Houston"

  • Select the frame you like then click "Use as Profile Picture"

5. Join us back here on Friday, April 9th for our Walk '21 Virtual Celebration

While we can't be together to celebrate in person, we're not letting that stop us from putting together a fantastic program to announce our top fundraisers, present grants to our benefiting agencies, and mix in a few performances. Mark your calendars because you won't want to miss it!
